Fire Chief Rudy Doyle leads a staff of full time paid and volunteer firefighters in providing fire protection for Oakland. Because of their dedication and expertise, Oakland enjoys having the best ISO-rated fire department in Fayette County. Providing service 24 hours a day, Simpson says, "We do make a difference."
"A strong fire department is definitely a 'quality of life' issue for people looking for a safe area to relocate their families," Doyle explains, and added that many new residents are surprised that the department can provide such quality fire protection with a combination paid and volunteer organization.
"We're happy to serve our community in this way," Simpson states, adding that the department is always looking for more volunteers to meet the community's needs.
For further information about Fire Department services and volunteer opportunities, contact the department at Oakland's City Hall. The Fire Department non-emergency number is 465-2448.
Emergency services are accessed locally by dialing 9-1-1
